I love to teach art!  And I love to see the progress and beautiful creations of my clients.  Learn to Spin, Transition to a Wheel, Make Beautiful Temari and More.  Please join us, because we have a really good time.  The Spin-In is free for everyone.

LEARN TO SPIN INTENSIVE. 3hour intensive Top Whorl Spindle class starting from complete novice and ending with 6-12 yards of yarn you've spun yourself! Covers 3 methods of drafting, plying, setting the twist, everything you need to know to get started as a spinner. Materials include over 2 ounces of wool and assorted fiber, a sturdy box with dowels for creating a lazy kate and illustrated instructions. You may purchase a drop spindle at the beginning of the class, or bring your own.   Your drop spindle should be Top Whorl, and weigh 1-2 oz. Level: Beginner +.  Price $90  Drop Spindle: $45

DROP SPINDLE OPEN WORKSHOP.  Continue your drop spindle skills, and get your questions answered.  Students who have completed the Spin Intensive or who have otherwise started spinning but want to improve their spinning skills have a place to do just that.  Level: Advanced Beginner+ Price: $30

INTRODUCTION TO THE SPINNING WHEEL.  Scotch Tension vs. Irish Tension and Ratios got you reeling? Understandable.  2 hours to learn how the wheel works, the basic anatomy and types of spinning wheel, drafting on a wheel, and how to decode all that spinning jargon you see on every other website! Best if you already know spindle basics, but open to all. Price: $30

TEMARI OPEN WORKSHOP.  Join temari fans from around the area, and share patterns and tips while creating the most beautiful art nobody ever heard of! For now you must supply your own materials, I hope to have thread purchasing options open to students in 2016. Level: Advanced Beginner+ .  Price: $30

TROUBLESHOOTING Q & A.  Can't figure out tension on your wheel? Is your drafting lumpy? Cant quite get those divisions on your temari?  I'm here for you to get your spinning to the next level. I may even bring cookies. 

Handspinning Hourly Private Instruction

Schedule as needed at Etui. Handspinning with a Wheel, Drop Spindle, Fiber Preparation, Drafting and Color Technique. 

Price: $95/hr.

Private Instruction, 1/2 hour Streaming (e.g. Skype or FaceTime)

A great option if its hard to get out, you need quick answers, or you live far away. Maupston is not responsible for streaming or data charges.

Price: $50/30 min.

Temari, Halfday Private Instruction

Spend the afternoon at Etui and learn to create the "learning ball" which gives you a foundation for many of the basic stitches in Temari.  Lesson includes a "blank" sphere  (mari) ready to divide and embroider, plus thread, pins and all materials.  Expect from 1 1/2 to 2 hours intensive instruction, then stay for another hour or two to practice and finish up, while I'm on hand to help when questions come up.  A great and intensive way to learn temari basics.
